Fertility
What Causes Infertility?
Infertility is a huge concern for women of all ages. Whether in their 20s, healthy, and ready to conceive, or in your 30s or even 40s, women often experience hormonal imbalances that may lead to infertility.
The Role of Hormones
Hormonal imbalance believed to only occur during perimenopause or menopause has recently been identified as the root of many cases of infertility. Balanced hormones are essential to the healthy process of conception and normal fetus development. The slightest imbalance in the sex hormones progesterone and estrogen, for example, can cause abnormalities and pathological processes at any of the steps during the processes leading from conception to delivery, for example:
- Failure of implantation of the ovum (female egg cell) into the uterus.
- Incompatibility between the egg and the sperm, precluding penetration and fertilization from occurring naturally.
- Failed fertilization, implantation or induced miscarriages in the first trimester due to insufficient or poor quality progesterone production by the corpus luteum
- Infertility caused by thyroid hormone deficiency.
Hormonal imbalance in men, whether testosterone, thyroid or other hormones are also major contributors to infertility, specifically leading to:
- Low sperm count
- Poor sperm motility and functionality
- Pathological sperms
- Poor ejaculatory content
Effective Treatment
Doctors have identified hormonal imbalance as one of the leading factors of infertility. Naturally, restoring hormonal balance is often the key to healthy conception and improved fertility.
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) with natural hormones provides a gentle, safe and effective way to restore hormonal balance and support fertility.
All infertility therapies conducted at major university medical centers employ bioidentical hormones in their protocols. The hormones consistently used are bioidentical estradiol and progesterone. There is no place for non-human identical hormones when attempting to sustain an early pregnancy in the realm of IVF or IUI therapies.
Unlike the synthetic hormones, which are produced from pregnant mare’s urine estrogens and have been found to have long-term negative effects on women's health, bioidentical hormones are exact replicas of the hormones produced naturally by our bodies.
Diet, exercise, and proper nutritional supplementation also play an important role in fertility and overall health and prevention.
